Musicians

People who choose to work as professional musicians live with a particular set of life stresses; difficult working hours, a combination of artistic and technical excellence, frank criticism and performance anxiety. Training to join this world is still one of self-sacrifice and commitment, and care for the emotional wellbeing of performers has not kept up with developments made in, say, professional sports. Touring and the closeness of the working environment often brings these stresses into the artists personal life.
Having performed for a number of years with many professional choirs and musicians, I have developed a high regard and a substantial empathy for them, and one of the aims in setting up Drew Law Therapy was to bring this experience into my therapeutic practice. About half my work is currently with musicians, working to address both professional concerns, and in their personal lives too.
